About

Lucis launched in June 2025.

We live in a time of turmoil, where so much energy is directed towards what is dark and wearying, outrageous and contemptible, and frankly, unkind and unloving. Against this I’ve found myself contemplating a quote from J.R.R. Tolkien’s masterpiece The Lord of The Rings. At Helm’s Deep the heroes are making an implied last stand against an overwhelming force:

“What can men do against such reckless hate?”
King Theoden, The Two Towers

We push back. We don’t let their darkness overwhelm us. Lucis is my attempt to project hope into our world by seeking and focusing on that which radiates light. I will discuss:

People — relationships, connection, our shared history
Ideas — concepts I find meaningful (one might say spiritual)
Things — the tools we use and their purpose and design

New thoughts on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays.
